Can't get DVD drive out!

I have a Sony Vaio laptop Model PCG-61211M which has a broken DVD drive. I have managed to pick up a second hand DVD drive from the same model which even has the correct colour faceplate fitted so I don't even have to change that. My problem is how do I get the old drive out? I have removed every screw on the back anywhere close to the DVD drive and it won't come out. Has anyone any experience with working on this model? I know that on some older machines you had to practically strip them down even removing the keyboard to get at a retaining screw but I would have thought being a pretty recent machine it would be more advanced than that. So basically can anyone tell me the trick in getting the drive out?

Hi Gozoman and welcome.

You are quoting an invalid model type - you are probably taking the chassis model from the bottom of the Vaio.  Try looking on the screen surround or in Vaio Control Centre for the correct model - it will start VPCExxxxxx.

You probably have a VPCEA series Vaio  and this may help: -

If it is a VPCEB series Vaio, try this: -

Thanks for that, I'll try this again later but after a quick look I can confirm that I have had these two screws out already and the drive won't budge which was why I thought there was another screw sonmewhere hidden. By the way you were right, my model number is VPCEA3C5E.

Thanks for the info. I had those screws out before but wasn't applying enough pressure to pull the drive out as I was worried that there was another screw somewhere. Got it out last night and fitted the new drive and it's working great. Also fitted new ram to take me up to 8 GB whilst I was at it. Thanks a lot for the help.
