Cannot Change Cpu Speed fe11h

Hi i have just brought a sony vaio fe11h and when it is running on batteries the cpu speed is 980mhz not 1.66ghz. i can't change the cpu control/speed under vaio power management as it is greyed out. please help!

Its meant to run at that speed when on batteries, its conserving battery power. Plug it into the mains to restore full CPU speed.

It won't do anything at full CPU speed on batteries, thats the way Intel designed the chip.

Its only possible to run at full speed when plugged into the mains.

Yeah it's mainly built for long life office work on batteries
