CD/DVD drive problem...

Hello

All of a sudden my laptop (VGN-A115B) has stopped reading any discs, it spins and makes a noise, but nothing ever loads up.

I even bought a cleaner disc but that has had no effect, I would be very greatful if anybody can assist me on how to fix this problem!

Do a system restore to a time before the DVD stopped reading. Another thing to do is visit VaioLink and get the latest dvd driver updates and install them. You might have some success deleting the older driver in the Device manager and rebooting so that the new Vaio Link drivers are installed automatically.

Actually just checked, it will play dvd's, but not audio cd's and cd roms.

I have EXACTLY same problem and posted it on this forum yesterday - no solution as yet. Tried the usual stuff too.

Please let me know if you get it sorted, and I will do the same.

The restore did not solve the problem.
