CD Writing Speeds

Hi, I tried to write about 270mb to a CD-R just now on my VAIO VGN-NR21Z and it said it would take hours, but surely it should not take this long? Is there anyway of speeding up the drive or writing? Thanks in advance

I Had the same Problem on my CR31ZR.
Pretty sure its Vista in my case as I was strying to burn through windows.It said it would take 2.5 hrs to burn one cd !
I used Roxio and it did the job in minutes.

Hi there

Yes Vista can give erratic estimates on time to burn / transfer files etc.

I think the largest I have seen is 14 days for a couple of hundred meg file haha
