crackly sound

Hi, i have a sony vaio, T2xp/s i bought a creative product and installed it with all the stuff it came with, i then decided i didnt want the product as it made the computer really hot, when i uninstalled the product the sounds started going really crackly with high pictched pops. I have tried playing with all sorts of different products (e.g, my dvd player) and have tried reinstalling many things, all to no avail. does anyone have any ideas on what to do, vaio themselfs say to do the recovery program and wipe everything:smileyangry:

Hi,

You may have to do a Recovery but I would try reinstalling the Sound Chip driver first - if you haven't tried this already.

Go to Device Manager and expand the 'Sound, Video and Game Controllers'. Find your sound chip - it will probably have AC 97 or some part of 'Analog Devices AD1981B 16-bit CD-quality stereo sound AC 97 2.3' in the name. Right-click on it and choose Uninstall. Reboot your Vaio.
