Hi,
I am new to this VAIO club and to the forum. I just bought a VGN-S2XP Vaio notebook with a warranty extension of 2 years.
I was just wondering if the warranty applies to the batteries too. I believe it should (at least to the one that was part of the initial packaged "delivery").
I read something about Lithium - Ion batteries saying that they should support about 400 or 500 recharging cycles (which for people traveling could happen within 1 year). My concern is what happens then? If the battery dies, is it replaced for free as part of the warranty?
I actually have a second question: the S2 series has been replaced by a new S3 series. As I understand it, the batteries VGP-BPS2 or VGP-BPL2 are said to be compatible with S series.
Does that mean that I can rely on Sony to not change the specficiations / format of their batteries so that I will still be able to find batteries for my laptop in say 5 or 10 years time?
Any information on this would be appreciated.
Thank you.
Alexandre.

Excuse, but nobody give you a warranty for batteries.
With Sony it's 90days otherwise no.
