DRIVER ISSUE (PCI DEVICE)

SONY MODEL: VGNFS285H

My sony vaio originally came with windows XP home which i removed including the invisible partition, so that i could put linux on which i used succesfully for a long period.
Now, that i am passing the computer on to my little brother i decided to put windows XP professional on it. This i have done succesfully using the original preinstalled drivers from the Sony support page, however after installing all the drivers my device manager shows a yellow exclamation on a PCI device, can some one tell me whats up with that ? and how i can reslove this please. Their is also no sound, this is evident when clicking on the audio, it will not allow me to click any where as it is dull. Further more i have a problem with the function keys, they are not working but this is probably because i have not yet put on sony utilities, i am hoping the PCI device driver issue can be sorted first which im guessing is preventing the sound from working. All else seems fine; internet is working including wireless.

Hi Rude_boiy,

The PCI device is probably the soundcard.

Have you installed the Microsoft UAA High Definition Audio Driver? XP does not support Hi Def Audio so it will not allow your Realtek ALC260 2-Channel High Definition Audio Codec to install.

First install the Microsoft UAA Driver - you will find it in the C:\Drivers download as "KB835221.EXE". It is in different places for different models but you should find it by searching the Drivers download. Just double-click on it to install.

Then the Realtec driver should install and give you your sound back.

EDIT: I'll attach the file below in case you can't find it!!
