Hi, I recently bought a sony vaio TX2-XP and everything works great, except the ethernet port , what I found really weird because I had installed all the drivers in windows and I have tried the "connection limited patch" also and when I go to the device manager to check if every driver is properly installed it says it's all working great.
When I try in Linux (Ubuntu) it also doesn't work and everything else works great.
I would aprecciate if anyone could give me some tips or point in the right direction.
Thanks in advance!
Sorry if i sound vague but,
are you using a valid IP address?
If assigned by DHCP from your Router is it getting one?
I have the DHCP server configured to get an ip automatically, but the problem it's not getting a ip , my problem is when I connect the cable to the port it doesn't even blink or turn on any light at all. I would like to know if anyone else had the same problem because I think it might be a hardware problem.
Hi flame_
It does sound like a hardware fault.
Have you tried uninstalling the 'Intel PRO/1000' in Device Manager and re-booting?
Also worth a look in Services - are the following Running?
DHCP Client
Server
Workstation
2 X Network Services
SSDP
Plug and Play
Terminal Services
EDIT: You have tried another ethernet cable?
