FE41Z & Vista - IP Address not renewing after waking from hibernation

Hi,

I have a rather annoying problem with my FE41Z that I've lived with since buying the machine, however after using my wife's bog standard school laptop and finding that far more responsive I'm posting to try and sort this minor but very irritating issue out.

Whenever I put the laptop to sleep or in hibernataion, whenever I flick the machine back on it either doesn't renew it's IP address with my wireless router or takes an absolute age to do so. Most times I need to resort to the command line to force a manual IP renewal and other times the actual wireless adapter can just disables itself completely and you can't get it working without a full reboot.

On my previous compaq (lovely machine - how I wish it never died after many years of good service) it would renew instantly and I could surf the net without having to run "ipconfig /renew" at the command line each time. More annoyingly however, on my wifes standard £399 machine it's also equally responsive. Granted these are both XP machines so it may just be more "Vista" problems but I'm getting fed up with these irksome issues especially when I've paid a premium for a Sony product hat I expected to work 110% in the first place.

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

paul.

This is not a solution but more to stop the annoying need to keep right clicking and repairing.

The attached file is to be run to get a new ip address. You can link it to a shortcut key so you never have to bother with the mouse.

Thanks for this - I'll take a look and feedback the results.

Thasks thephongh,

Another niggle fixed and a user much happier again!

In future rather than letting these niggles build up to be a big frustration I'm going to look sooner at the boards - this is the second issue that's been addresses with a day or two. Very helpful indeed!

Cheers,

Paul.
