Yes, this is exactly what I have.
How can I stop it?

one possiblity is tht u uninstall the vaio programs which u dont need urself. I did it so .. But be aware -> dont istall the main Programms which are used for the webcam oder the hotkey e.t.c.

But if u uninstalled one of these progs by mistake u can always download the installation file for the progs from vaio site ... so not tht worse 😛

if there is another better possibility plse tell ... would be glad to know it. As the unistallation of all progs needs lots of time 😞

To uninstall everything is a very bad idea because it doesn't uninstall everything at the registry and other places too. So it slows your system down either way.

Does still nobody knows a solution for this:

I think it's just if you use Windows Vista. But there must be something we can do....!

Hi Susanne4711 & aditjain

On reboot click cancel on the message which popus up asking you if you want to finish the recovery process by installing the apps.

You should then be able to stop VARU from starting if you go to start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Task Scheduler..

In task scheduler you should have three windows, Overview of Task Scheduler, then below this Task Status and finally at the bottom Active tasks..

In task scheduler go to the bottom section of the centre column (called active tasks)

Double click VARU.exe and in the new window select delete...

It works!!! Thank you Thalamus.

But in my case it wasn't "varu.exe" which I needed to delete it was "Vaio Application Recovery".

 Glad it worked Susanne4711, thanks for the letting me know it's Vaio Application Recovery instead of VARU.exe..

Wont the Recovery Tool just install Vista again though? Instead of XP?
