FW21L - windows delayed file write fake virus alert

Hi - my beloved FW21L Sony laptop has recently been infected with a fake virus alert that tells me my hard drive is failing and all other fake messages in order to trick me into buying a miracle cure all software

It shows up as a Windows Delayed File Alert

I have tried system restore but for some reason this doesnt work and get a message saying the restore function wasnt able to complete - even in safe mode

I am loathed to doing a clean reinstall but may have to so I thought would first check with the good folk on thus support forum

I have googled the error and there is some advice / instructions on how to remove but some of these involve messing with the Registry and I dont really want to messing with that - unless the instructions are crystal clear

Any help is appreciated since this pain in the a** virus is doing me head in and leaving my laptop inoperable - even in safe mode

Thanks

Hi peshyxp,

have had a search around & there is a possible solution on Tom's hardware but as I've not had to try it I can not say if it will help or not..
