graphics card not working properly?

hey there, I have a problem with my brandnew laptop, a VAIO VGN-FE28B.

I was installing a few programs I need on the laptop yesterday, and then when I was told to reboot the system in order to complete the installations, it would fall into some sort of Stand-By. I say "sort of", because there was no way to get the system to start again and I couldn't turn it off except for pulling the plug.

so, then I restarted, and I would get this beep-code: 1x long, 2x short. a friend of mine said it would be a warning signal the BIOS sends when there's a problem with the graphics card. the question right now is: is the card broken in any way or just not properly sitting in its slot inside of the laptop? because it really would be really annoying having to send it in because the graphics card is loose..

any help is very much apperciated, and thanks in advance!

Your friend is right, it's a display device failure.

If you're in warranty call VAIO-Link Monday morning, otherwise I'd go hunting in the Yellow Pages and get some quotes.
