GRT815M: Memory upgrade

It is not that easy to search in this forum... anyway.

I have GRT815M with 512 MB RAM.
The model supports up to 1 GB RAM.

Everywhere I am offered 2x512 MB SO-DIMM etc. - this is quite OK.

I wonder, if I can put 1x1GB at one of the slots or there is some restriction? I could not find anything mentioned about that.

I have not seen anywhere that says you can install one 1024MB memory module and all suppliers recommend 2 X 512MB DDR PC2700. As your maximum memory is 1024 MB, I do not see any advantage in fitting one 1024 MB module - I would stick to the recommended configuration of 2 X 512MB as this will be guaranteed to be compatible.

Thanks,
this is mine choice right now as well. I though when in the future the comp retires, 1GB RAM might be more useful than 2x512 RAM... just thoughts..

True - but it is unlikely that any newer machine will use DDR 333mHz.

A modern PC will almost certainly be using DDR2 RAM and this memory will be unusable anyway.
