I bought a Microsoft X-Box 360 HD-DVD drive today - I plugged it into my FE-11S and Windows recognised it - I installed the proper file system so it shows up as an HD-DVD in XP and then I downloaded PowerDVD with HD-DVD support!
And what happens? It tells me my drivers are not new enough to support nVidia Pure Video which is needed for HD-DVD (and Blu-Ray) playback!
If this was a normal PC I would just update the drivers but these Go cards don't like that - and I need an up to date GeForce Go 7400 driver so I can use the HD-DVD drive I bought?
Can anyone help me out? I have the latest official sony driver update from July for this graphics card as well (although the driver is dated from december strangely enough?).
Hi Spinstorm,
Have a look at the requirements for HD-DVD HERE
If you fit all the other requirements, you may have to use a non-Sony driver until they catch up.
Is this XP or Vista?
I installed the proper file system so it shows up as an HD-DVD in XP
Sorry I am in Canada so the time zone means there may be some delay between replies from me!
yes Im using XP Media Center edition on the vaio. PowerDVD make a system analyser and it tells me that the HD-DVD will play if I upgrade the drivers to those Pure nVidia drivers but the last drivers for the 7400 are too hold to have that feature... so where can I get some up to date new drivers as I can't find any anywhere - I did find some on the nVidia site but when I tried to install them it told me that I was installing something for hardware I didnt have and it exited!
Hi Spinstorm - have a look at the instructions for installing any nVidia driver HERE
This should let you install an updated driver - you need the most recent WHQL Certified driver.
I installed the drivers from that site and thats all ok now!
But powerDVD keeps crashing before it can play a film! any ideas what is causing that?
