I doubt that there would be a problem with 20Gb, in fact you can probably go further - have a look here. A BIOS upgrade may be necessary for 60Gb but not 20Gb.

PCG-505's have a Phoenix bios 4.0 release 6.0, and yes you guessed it this only supports HDD's upto 8.5gb.
Does anyone know where I can get hold of release 6.1? How do I flash it?
Thanks
Peter

If the BIOS flash does actually exist for this computer, you will find the official (recommended) update at VAIO-Link.
I would be *VERY* careful with any unofficial BIOS Patches. They have the potential to kill your computer - Permanently. The same is true of an official release but the risks are reduced somewhat.
