HDD upgrade and warranty

Hi!

Will I lose the warranty of my PCG-V505CP when I upgrade the HDD?

I also have the warranty plus pack and so the warranty expires in march 2007.

I want to install linux beside windows and 40 GBs are to small for 2 OS and Data.

Hi Stephanius and thanks for your detailed answer!

I'm building Desktop Systems since approx. 10 years now and I never damaged anything.

I'm generally a carefully guy.

So I think I could do that without destroying any part.
But for the first step I will try to use the "old" 40GB HDD.
And if there is no chance to work with this solution, I will replace it with a 80 or 100 GB HDD.

I think with an external HDD it will be very unconfortably.
You have to carry the Notebook, the HDD and the power pack with you.

Hi all!

I looked once again at the lower surface of my notebook and discovered an extra cover which was totally sepparted from the main-cover.

I removed the 5 screws and there is the HDD.

I think it would be more than easy to replace it.

You could possibly buy a pocket hard disk which connects via USB2
