Hi Bianca
It sounds like something could have changed your settings in either Skype options or Sounds and Audio devices in Control Panel.
If you go into Skype - options - sound devices, what does it say for 'Audio out?' For example I have the option of 'Windows Default' 'Soundmax Digital Audio' or 'USB Audio Device.'
I have to select 'Soundmax.'
Also check in 'Sounds and Audio devices' in Control Panel what is listed for 'sound recording' and 'voice recording'
hi jumpsuit ...i went on all the things you said but nothing seems to work ....is there any other solution i could try
thanks

Hi bianca,
Have you checked that the microphone is working with other applications such as Sound Recorder? If it does and you have tried all the various alternative settings under Tools > Options > Sound Devices and you also have ‘Let Skype adjust my sound device settings’ checked and a system restore makes no difference then I suggest you uninstall and the re-install Skype.
If other applications also fail to recognise the microphone then run the Sound Hardware Test Wizard – Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > Voice Tab > Test Hardware
Hi Rich912 ...thanks alot for your help my problem is now fixed i did that test hardware thing and now it finally works ..its weird what happened to the mic before but thankfully my mic is in fully working order
once again thanks

Might be something really simple like going to the taskbar and clicking on the speaker icon. There go to the menu and select recording options. Make sure the MIC isn't muted
hi , just liked to say ...thanks for everyones suggestions in the end after Rich912's suggestion it started working again
