Help replacing HDD with SSD drive

Hi,

I know this is probably outside the scope of support for a Vaio 2012 UEFI  S Series laptop but any help and tips that can be provided on tools to use and procedures would be really helpful to me and perhaps the community.

My aim is to clone and replace my GPT format 640GB HD with a Crucial M4 256GB SSD with the goal of ensuring the "power on" *and* the "assist" buttons both work and boot the correct partition.

My attempts with AHTI 2012+ so far have worked for the "power on" button but it breaks the "assist" power on button which is unable to find the Sony Vaio Care recovery partition.

Any ideas?

Word of warning to anyone trying this:  TRY TO MAKE A SET OF RECOVERY DISCS from your laptop's recovery partition in case the process should go wrong!

I found the UEFI boot mode in the BIOS and the Sony power on buttons on new 2012 laptops are very hard-wired and fragile wrt. hard disc changes.

Good luck!
