Help!!! Vaio VGN-SZ61XN/C drivers

Hello,

I need an manual that expain how to install drivers step by step at VGN-SZ61XN/C for Windows XP profesional.

In download drivers section at vaio site I think that an error.

XP drivers install instructions for the VGN-SZ61 series.

1) Make sure that :
a. the Vaio is set on Speed mode, by moving the switch above the keyboard to    Stamina (by default it is set to Speed mode)
b. the Wireless switch above the keyboard is switched on.
c. The unit is connected on AC power
d. No 3rd party hardware is connected / installed on the unit when starting    this process.

2) Install Windows XP Professional with SP2
! Important note :
a. In case you still would like to recover using F10 from the hard disk to the    original Vista preinstalled operating system, please leave the recovery partition    in tact.
b. In case you would like to free up some space and remove the recovery partition,    please make sure to first create a set of recovery discs using the Recovery    wizard in your Vista preinstalled installation.
c. We recommend to quick format the partition you wish to install Windows XP    on to avoid conflicts with the preinstalled OS.

3) When the windows XP setup is complete please open the downloaded utilities    folder, open the BIOS folder and run the installer. Reboot the system when done    to complete the installation. After the reboot the system will finalise the    BIOS installation and switch off. Please switch the unit back on to continue    with the installation.

4) After the reboot enter windows and go to the downloaded Utilities folder
Install the utilities in the correct order. Starting with Utilities folder 1
a. When during the setup the system asks to reboot, please do so and continue    with the next folder when back in windows.
b. When installing the Vaio Event Service, please select the typical install
c. When installing the battery care function, please install first the setup    in folder 1, then run the setup in folder 2

5) When the utilities are reinstalled exit the Utilities folder and open the    downloaded Drivers folder. Then open the Chipset folder to run the setup. When    the setup is completed, press finish to restart the PC

6) Audio driver installation :
a. After the reboot, open the Drivers folder, then the audio folder, open folder    1 and run the “KB835221 – Audio hotfix” file and follow the    install instructions.
b. 2 Found new hardware dialogs will pop up. Press cancel on these screens
c. Press finish on the KB835221 setup wizard screen
d. Go back out of folder 1 and open folder 2
e. Run the setup file in this folder. Follow the on-screen instructions.
f. Restart the system when finished

7) A Found new hardware dialog will appear after the reboot (Modem installation).
a. Select No, not this time and press next
b. It will want to install a Modem device. Select “Install from a list    of specific location” and press next
c. Select “Search for the best driver in these locations”
d. Deselect “Search removable media”
e. Select “include this location in the search”. Press on browse    and browse to the modem folder in the Drivers folder and press OK
f. Click on next to continue
g. A Pop-up will appear, please press on “Continue Anyway”
h. Press on Finish to complete the installation

😎 Graphics installation :
a. Since we are in Speed mode we will first install the Nvidia Graphics driver:
i. Open the Video_speed folder
ii. Run the setup file in the folder and follow the on-screen instructions.
iii. The screen will flash a couple of times during the installation, this is    normal.
iv. When the install is finished, it will ask to restart the computer, please    do so

b. Now switch the Stamina/Speed switch above the keyboard to Stamina. Select    restart now to switch to Stamina mode.

c. When windows has restarted a Found new hardware wizard will pop-up.
i. Select “No, Not this time” and press Next
ii. Select “Install from a list or specific location” and press    Next
iii. Select “include this location in the search”. Press on browse    and browse to the Drivers folder and then to the Video_stamina folder and press    OK
iv. Press Next
d. When this is finished a couple of Found new hardware pop-up windows can appear.   
i. Select “Yes, this time only” and press Next
ii. Select “Install the software automatically” and press Next
iii. Press Finish then the installation is complete.
e. Windows will prompt you to restart the system, please press Yes to restart


9) Bluetooth installation :
a. Open the Bluetooth_driver folder
b. Run the setup program. Follow the on-screen instructions
c. Reboot the PC when requested at the end of the installation
d. After the reboot the computer will make some sounds indicating new hardware    being connected, this is normal.

10) Wireless LAN drivers installation:
a. Browse to the folder Drivers and then open the WLAN_drivers folder
b. Start the setup file and follow the on-screen instructions.

Other drivers installations :

Open the Device manager :
c. Go to Start > Control Panel
d. Double click on “System”
e. Click on the Hardware tab and click on “Device Manager”

11) Camera driver installation :
a. Click on the + before Universal Serial Bus controllers
b. Right click on “USB Composite device” and select Update driver
c. Select in the Wizard “No, not this time” and press Next
d. Select “Install from a list or a specific location” and press    Next
e. Select “Don’t search, I will choose the driver to install”    and press Next
f. Press on “Have Disk…”
g. Browse to the folder Drivers and then Camera_Driver and press Open
h. Press Finish when done.

12) Network controller driver installation:
a. Right click on the Ethernet Controller item under Other devices and select    Update driver
b. Select “No, not this time” and press Next
c. Select “Install from a specific location” and press Next
d. Click on Browse and browse to the Drivers folder and select there the Network    folder and press Ok
e. Click on Next
f. Click on Finish when done


13) Mass Storage controller (Memorystick):
a. Right click on the Mass Storage Controller item under Other devices and select    Update driver
b. Select “No, not this time” and press Next
c. Select “Install from a specific location” and press Next
d. Click on Browse and browse to the Drivers folder and select there the FlashMedia    folder and press Ok
e. Click on Next
f. Click on Finish when done
g. Restart the PC

14) Memory stick Icon installation
a. Browse to the folder Drivers and then Memorystick_driver_patch in the drivers    folder
b. Run the Install Batch file in the folder

15) Touchpad driver :
a. Go to Start > Control Panel
b. Double click on “System”
c. Click on the Hardware tab and click on “Device Manager”
d. Click on the + before Mice and other pointing devices
e. Right click on the PS/2 Compatible mouse item and select Update driver
f. Select “No, not this time” and press Next
g. Select “Install from a specific location” and press Next
h. Click on Browse and browse to the Drivers folder and select there the Pointing    folder and press Ok
i. Click on Next
j. Click on Finish when done
k. Restart the PC

16) Sony Image filter
Note :Only applicable in case you did not install the optional TMP utility
a. Open the Sony Image filter folder in the drivers folder
b. Run the Install Batch file
c. Select Continue Anyway

17) TPM module installation (for units with a TPM module)
Note :Only applicable in case you did not install the optional TMP utility
a. Go to Start > Control Panel
b. Double click on “System”
c. Click on the Hardware tab and click on “Device Manager”
d. Right click on the Unknown device item under Other devices and select Update    driver
e. Select “No, not this time” and press Next
f. Select “Install from a specific location” and press Next
g. Click on Browse and browse to the Drivers folder and select there the TPM    folder and press Ok
h. Click on Next
i. Click on Finish when done

18) Fingerprint module installation (for units with a fingerprint reader)

a. Open the fingerprint_driver folder and run the installation file.
b. Follow the on-screen instructions
c. Restart the system when completed.

19) For the models with integrated Wireless WAN functionalities :
Important notes :
* Some operator specific functionalities will not be available after the
downgrade to Windows XP (e.g. Video telephony, etc)
* Make sure the battery is properly connected to the Vaio.

a. Open the WWAN folder in the Drivers folder
b. Run the setup.exe file.
c. When the setup is complete, open the Wireless Switching Utility (click on    Start ? Control Panel ? Switch to classic view ?Vaio control Center ? Network    connections ? Wireless switch settings)
d. Enable the Wireless WAN function by ticking the box in front of it and press    Ok.
e. The system will now automatically start install the drivers, this can take    1-2 minutes.

? Use the Globetrotter icon on the desktop to start the Wireless WAN connection    manager.
? Make sure to insert your SIM card properly in the slot behind the battery    and to re-insert the battery afterwards.

This completes the XP downgrade setup.

Important note : DVD playback is not natively supported in Windows XP, so a    separate program is needed in order to playback DVD movies. This software will    not be supplied by Sony.

1) Make sure that :

But I expect the process is the same if you are downgrading from either Vista or Windows 7..

sony vaio vgn-sz61xn no audio devices installed

hi,

i've installed a fresh w7, but for this model  [vgn-sz61nx]

the only problem is that now i can't install the audio driver and i have the err 'no audio device installed'

i see you have solution for this model audio driver for XP, can you help me find one for w7 too?
