I have just got my new pocket. I transferred a whole load of albums but forgot to add the cover art. A friend of mine told me to transfer the music off my Pocket, add the covert art and then transfer back.
I transferred the music off the Pocket and yet the memory said that I had used 2.8Gb of memory even though there were then no songs left on the Pocket.
I transferred the music back and another 2.8Gb of drive space has been used up!
What am I doing wrong? Is the space used and gone forever? Should I re-format the drive? How much space does the software on the Pocket use up?
Another issue is that I have set the Backlight to always on - fine. I have changed the Timer settings to Power off after 30 minutes but it switches itself off after only a few and resets the Power Off to 'Off' - very frustrating.
Help please?:smileycry:
To do with the memory i don't know what has happened there maybe there was just an error reading how much space is left, you should be able to write and re-write as many times as you want.
the timer is measnt to power off after 30 mins on playing time not to keep it on standby for 30 minutes.
hope this helps.:smileyhappy:
Chris,
thanks for your post.
Thought so. Do you I think transfer everything off again and press the reset button?
Forgive me for being thick - not sure I understand. The 'Power Off' button, to quote Sony, 'automatically puts the player into power off mode after a certain amount of time'. I changed it to 30 mins thinking that if the machine is inactive the power would stay on for 30 minutes (and with it the backlight which I switched to always on).
right.lets see:
when you said that you transfered the music off the vp,do you mean "delete" music or click on the arrow pointing to the library??in the second case your music gets transfered back to the pc and not deleted and therefore keeps using some of the space in the vp.
try deleting it and the free space will come up...
as for the other display settings...
first of all you shouldnt keep the backlight always on cause it drains your battery in no time[just advice]
also ive noticed that my vaio automatically turns off after some time like 2 minutes of being inactive or something.
maybe this activity has priority to the power off activity...
just guessing
i think the power off mode is meant to just turn off your vaio in a certain time no matter what you are doing, but it doesnt keep it on for that time if your not doing anything with the vaio.
when you have the power off mode switched on then your vaio will stop playing after the time you have set.but if it is inactive,no playback,no touch on the grid and no button pressed, then it will automatically turn off after some minutes as it always does, power off mode or not!
Hold on, there's nothing wrong here, the 2.8Gb is the system files, you will always have that much used space when you have taken all files off, well unless they release a different sized firmware update of course.
I would just like to thank everyone who took the time to respond to my query.
Hard disk query sorted and I have downloaded the new firmware which enhances the power off options.
happy to hear that you ve got everything sorted out finally.
hope you get no more problems from your vp.:smileywink:
