my laptop had to be wiped due to a virus. can factory settings be reset?

Hi keijohns7,

Assuming that the recovery partition has not been formatted you can reset to factory defaults by tapping F10 at boot when you see the Vaio logo – this should start the recovery procedure.

Also, if you created recovery media the disks can be used to recover your system.

Otherwise you need to purchase a set of recovery media from Support.
