Anyone out there steer me in the right direction? I'm looking for a TV card that will receive HD TV via satellite (Freesat - no interest in Sky), preferably twin tuner to allow recording of one channel while watching another.
I don't have a dish yet, if that's relevant (although it will need to be a small one - detached house in a convservation area).
BTW, is there a search function on this board 'cos jiggered if i could find it
Hi Beeble,
I'm also interested in doing this.
I think its possible, but you will probably need Windows 7, which won't be released until later this year.

Tim.
This is possible with Vista. A DVB-S card is requird, although DVB-S2 (with twin tuner) would probably be more useful. I recall doing extensive research on this some time ago but settled against it because of the costs (sky multiroom subscrition would be required for twin tuner), and my firewire being rendered inactive because if the MSI 8500 GT GPU I have installed (I think!) which is required.
I think that this http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/info_4348.html is probably the best bet, though again, if memory serves vista media centre wont support it becayse HDTV is H.264, however i'm pretty sure there are some workarounds. The guys also have a forum http://forum.digital-everywhere.com/ which is quite good.
PS - The search option was removed (cant remember why, the senior members will know) but if you have google toolbar installed you can search the site using that which can be quite useful.
It's still very much in it's infancy, and if you're in the UK Freesat doesn't seem to have much backing now that ITV and C4 are skint.
Hello, i am also looking at this, and believe the BlackGold BGT3600 to be the best twin tuner S2 PCIe low profile card on the market. Hauppauge don't do a dual S2 pci card.
Problem is that it requires a 12V PCIe 6 pin power cable to feed the LNB according to BG's website. http://shop.blackgold.tv/epages/BT3159.sf/en_AU/?ObjectPath=/Shops/BT3159/Categories/Support/Install...
I don't see one of these immediately available on the xl201.
Am i at a lost cause here please?
Thanks, tony
