How do I display the full screen on my Vaio laptop please?

This can only be a basic problem, I'm not a super user!  How on earth do I get my Vaia laptop to display a full screen without the black sides?  It's only just started doing it so assume I've hit something that has changed a setting.  Many thanks for your help.

You should be able to adjust the screen resolution via display settings.

These can be found Start > Control Panel > Appearance/Personalization > Display settings

What model vaio do you have.?

Thanks very much Thalamus that's done it. Been in this area before but didn't realise it was the screen resolution I needed  to adjust.  Model is a VPCEB1S0E, & whilst we normally like Sony product not sure I'm a fan of their laptops but hey ho thats life.
