Probably the best way is to actually look at the installed RAM modules by removing the panel on the bottom of your Vaio. If it says PC2 4200 on the module it is 553mHz - if it says PC2 5300 it is 667mHz.

But don't worry, the PC2 5300 you have bought will work with either of these in the other slot. It will just work at the speed of the slowest module installed.

Everest Home Edition can tell you this

I agree, that software will tell you everything in your laptop. The home version has been discontinued now though so go for the ultimate version, it's free and should tell you what you need to know.

The Everest can do the job, but I will recommend you the cpu-z software, it is a small utility that does not need installation and it is much easier to find the info you are looking for, and in this case, more accurate.
You can find it here cpuid.com

I have an AR11M and my memory modules are 2x512Mb from Samsung running at 533Mhz;
These little modules are some of the most expensive availables.

In case you find what memory modules you have, I would be interested to know if are the same.

I hope I have been helpful.
