How to factory restore Vaio VGN-SZ4VWN/X

Hi,

I'm selling my Sony Vaio laptop and need to wipe the hard drive and restore it back to factory settings (came with Vista).

I've tried the usual stuff but not having any joy. I don't have any disks.

Any tips please?

Hi Simon,

If you have changed the OS then the only way without Recovery Discs is to tap F10 repeatedly during startup before the initial Vaio logo splashscreen disappears.

If the Recovery Partition is still intact, F10 should start the Recovery Centre where you can choose to Recover the Complete System.  Attach to the mains as it can take some time!
