I ran few utilities for analyzing motherboard, chipset... etc, among them made a test with official one made for indentifying motherboards from american megatrends, and in each and everyone I got this strange and interesting peace of info:
memory:
installed: 512 MB
maximum: 2 gb
although in a317m specs. declared maximum is 1gb.
now I am curious if this is some kind of diagnostic bug, or my sistem can support 2gb of memory despite sony's declaration.
any experiences on this matter?
respect

I think I will try 2gb at my friend\s hardware store today...
and if it's true...:smileycool:
but why sony lies then??
yup.
this intel's chipset supports up 2gb,
sony messed up something...
Sony often under quote the max RAM a machine can take, I have no idea why they do this.
Crucial do good deals and their support is great
really it is strange.
misterious ways of sony:smileyhappy:
i agree with u, i have the feeling that sometimes even sony doesnt know what they do 😃
btw, what should i do to install more ram without losing my warranty?? (i will buy'em from crucial)
You wouldn't use your warranty if you upgrate the RAM with non-Sony Ram. Crucial is a good choice.
what is the difference between crucial RAM and sony RAM. Why would I pay more for Sony, is there an explanation?
