hi all...
after reading through some of the other posts about the same thing, it made me realised that i may not be able to get a perfect direct output from my ps2 for now - therefore i experimented with some capture software, and using VLC player i was able to play my ps2...
the downside to this however is, the picture qulity isnt that great.

...and if you set the video buffer to 0 (which is required if u dont want a lag), then the sound goes off!

...the video captured fills most of the screen, but could some off you guys out there please add to the this quest of finding out how to directly output on this mother...because after all is said and done, if this machine - VGC-VA1 - cannot output directly from a console, then it will be a big let down, and as a multimedia machine, sony should have really integrated all there products for connectivity/compatibility!!!...

does anyone know how to contact sony directly with a troubleshooting question?!

i hope someone is listening out there...

Hi,

Forgive my ignorance but isn't it possible to connect the PS2 to a TV using a standard coax connector?...

In which case - why not link it to the VA1 using its TV Antenna socket and manually tune MCE to it...

Or, if the PS2 is scart - have you tried the above using a scart to coax converter......

Just a thought like..

This card has AV/ S-video out

I thought these connections were INPUTS

TV-tuner - Audio (Left) In, Audio (Right) In, Video In, S-Video In, UHF/VHF Connector, PAL, SECAM, Video Decoder

I have to disagree, model MH2000.
Indeed, some TV-tuner cards have a possibility to capture a video signal. But cards who have the possibility to do this at full picture quality AND in real-time (without a delay), are either very rare or don't exist, as far as I know.
Special video capture cards and ADC's (canopus, aural igniter,...) ment for video editing may capture HQ video for storage, but showing them on your screen in realtime will even be tough on those (semi/professional) devices.

If i'm completely wrong here and if you succeed in getting undelayed full quality video, let me know!!

It would cost you thousands for a card like that

We use these at school

But i'm sure even those probably have a small delay that will allready be annoying in video games...
