Hi inked,

You cannot actually "Roll Back" an upgrade to Vista.

However, you should be able to reinstall XP MCE. Make sure you have made at least two sets of Recovery Discs.

This will take your AR21S back to its original factory configuration. If you want to have the facility to return to your present configuration, you will need to buy a program that will make a "Mirror" of your hard drive complete with all Programs, Settings and Updates - something like

ACRONIS TRUE-IMAGE 10

Thanks, decided to go ahead with the Vista installation and everything is working great except that the user guide says to download intervideo WinDVDBD blu-ray software from vaio support but it doesn't seem to be available on the website.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks, but i've already tried that version (XP) and it refuses to install (comes up with an error about not being a valid sony Vaio) and there doesn't seem to be a version available for Vista, i'm completely stumped.

Anyony got any further ideas on what the problem may be if this is the version i am meant to use?

Oh dear, still more Vista upgrade problems, I'm glad I have no inclination to upgrade and devestate my laptop

I too have tried. Yet again Sony's idea of support is laughably inadequate. After spending extra to get Blu-Ray I now have a machine that no longer is able to play it.

You would think that Sony would be pushing for Blu-Ray, their flagship technology, to work...

Decided to reinstall XP, all running as it used to.
Will try out vista again in a month or so when all the programs are as they should be.

Hello,

I think Sony did a good job with their Vista upgrade disk set.

I received Vista for my C1S last friday. With the help of the good Sony description and good prepared CD/DVSs the update was no problem. And my sixth sense told my to use the trial time and not to register Vista immediately

Playing with Vista I find out that I dont like Vista Home at all. Obscure wizards and helpers, but to little strate and clear adjustment methods. I dont like this user guidance for dummies. :clown:

Additional some of my old programs still not work with Vista.

So I decided to switch back to XP MCE.

No problem, because the recovery partition of the hd was not overwritten with Vista.

Pressing F10 at power up startet a fresh XP MCE installation.

I will try Vista in one year or later. Today I see more problems than advatages with it.
