Is my wireless card dead

Just wanted to put a few ideas to you.

My step father's machine (a dell, yeah I know....) has a Netgear WG311v2 wireless PCI card. For the last few weeks, on cold boot it won't show the wireless card. When I reboot it, it's fine, logs into the network and the internet is OK. But today it throws up a code 10 error in device manager. I have to uninstall it and reboot to get back on.

I've not added any hardware or software, just AVG updates (but that shouldn't be a factor.

I doubt it's an IRQ conflict

Do you think it's time I ordered a new card?

TIA

Hi Kee-Lo,

Sounds like the card is on the way out!! I presume you have tried a driver upgrade to 2.0.0.7 from Netgear WG311 v2 Downloads

If that doesn't help - time to shop!!!!

Went to Comet this morning and bought the Belkin card they had there, went home and was chuffed to find I'd saved £2 - was £22 on Amazon.co.uk!

It's not easy to configure but it's working well now, it has WPA so it's a bit more future proof.

Thanks for the advice, it's now been boxed away ready for the bin
