It seems to me that Sony in general are really feeling the effects of the global recession.
Over the past year i have seen Sony Vaio go from being a top & well respected brand to being just an average company, Or maybe i should be saying BELOW average. There tech support don't know what they are doing, the people responsible for running there support web site don't know what they are doing, and now i have discovered that Sony in general don't know what they are doing. Drivers not working on most Vaio's, wrong information being posted on the web sites... Sony what the hell is going on...? There are many things (MANY) that i could share with you guys about the Sony Vaio brand, but i really don't have the time. So here is my latest discovery regarding the FW21M Laptop. A few days ago i looked on the website for the Fw21m and seen that there was a driver update for the Ati graphics card.. First i must say DO NOT RUN THIS DRIVER... Certainly DO NOT FOLLOWING THERE INSTRUCTIONS on how to install this driver (look at the attachment posted). As you can see from this clip i have taken there instruction on how to install this drive is actually for a NVIDIA graphics card.. WOW hang on a min...ain't the FW21M got an ati graphics card..! Hmmmm so why the hell have you posted instructions on installing a nvidia card... Next you will see that the update don't even work (how many times have i seen that problem), Most importantly if you do follow the instructions you will the note that you CANNOT get the ati driver back into the system NOT even via a system restore... The only way to do it is to download the original driver from the site... SO BE WARNED USERS double check your drivers before installing them onto your system and be prepared for some drivers to SCREW up your system. I have called tech support but as usual they have no idea as to what i was talking about....
As i mentioned above there are sooooo many things i can go on about in regards to Sony Vaio's performance over the last year... this just happens to be one of the easiest i could explain.
The moral here is to always DOUBLE check what you are installing onto your system and if your in doubt then leave it out...!
