Is there a Sony Vaio International Guarantee?

I am planning to travel to the USA and I am thinking of buying a Sony Vaio laptop. I currently live in Sweden and I want to know if Sony offers some kind of international guarantee and if I should pay extra for it.

Sony do offer a free International Warranty on selected Vaio models.  I am not sure exactly what is available in your country, but if you click on 'Products' at the top of this page and select 'Vaio Services' - you will find it under 'Vaio and Computing' - details for your country should be shown.

Hi, Sony do have International warranty packs availible. Its something you have to buy in your country, it isn't someting that can be applied retrospectively once in the States. Well worth investing in it to get that peace of mind

I don't think that is totally accurate. 

The International Warranty is FREE on applicable models, as long as theVaio is registered, for the full period of the standard warranty.

You can buy an extended warranty but this does not extend the period of the International Warranty.
