Hi all, my latop recently had a drink, it was picked up and the t company have old me the laptop itself is non-repairable but the hard drive is in tact and ok, so, they are sending me a new laptop (great!), and they are also sending me my hard drive, my question is that how do I get my data from my drive? I have seen items such as this: http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?C=SEO&U=SiteMapByDept&ModuleNo=44932 would this do the job? or do I need something else?
many thanks in advance for any help or advice
Thank you
Hi anzagi,
A USB enclosure will certainly allow you to access the data on the old drive. The other alternative is to fit the old hard drive into the new notebook assuming that you feel competent to do this.
Alternatively you could create an image of the old drive using Acronis True Image and then recover the new dive using this image.
Thanks for the response, I think I best leave the new latop alone:smileywink: i'd rather spend a few quid on the usb device, so ill be ordering that, cheers very much thats put my mind at rest
I agree with you, best to get the enclosure and use it as a backup drive
