memory parity error

I started windows media player and the screen turned to blue reporting " memory parity error, system malfunction". What should I do? is it a software problem or a hardware problem? Plz give suggestions.

This message is usually hardware/device related but not necessarily related to the physical RAM in your computer.

It could be a newly installed device, Video Card, or Processor problem (in short anything that has or uses memory) to name but a few…

Try removing all peripherals from your computer to see whether the problem persists.
