Gents,
so <profanity removed by moderator> has hit the fan. The motherboard on my xl-201 don't work anymore and I need a new one. Does anyone know a good replacement which will work?
I have checked everything but i just got a blackscreen. Frustrated i borught it to the local pc repair who told me the Motherboard didn't work anymore.
I know the PC is not the fastest anymore, but I have just invested in windows 7, an additional hard drive and extra memory so it would be painful to scrap it.
Any help or advice is much appreciated.

Hi Gus,
Quite honestly it is going to be uneconomical to replace the custom Motherboard in the XL201. It is a Sony one-off and I'm guessing it would cost £500. If the problem is the motherboard you may be better off looking for a similar model on somwhere like eBay.
So what are the symptoms of your Motherboard failure - they are quite rare on desktop type Vaios - give us a description of the symptoms and we may be able to suggest something to try. Not likely I know but worth a try.
Do any lights come on when you turn it on?
Can you hear any noises like a hard disc spinning up?
When did it last work and what were you doing before it stopped?
Have you installed any new software or drivers just before it stopped?
