Hi, I have experience problem with my Camera.
I have VGN-FJ3S and WindowsXP as OS.
First of all, I met problem when Skype told me that there is no camera or it is used by another application.
Then I checked my camera...but it looks like there is no camera on my laptop.
There is no camera on "Scanners and Cameras" in Control Panel. When I tryed to instal new imaging device I chose the proper driver for my camera from the driver's folder at disk C, but it gave me nothing!
Then if you go to "System properties", the "Device Manager" does not show me "Imaging device" in the list of hardware installed on my laptop.
I opened VAIO Camera Utility it gave me message with "Unknown error".
After all of that I restore my laptop at the time of one week before when my camera worked. It did not help me.
Then I restore disk C by VAIO Recovery Tool.Result is still nothing! Now I don't have even option on Skype for trying to turn my camera on, because there is no this option due the absence of camera on my laptop.
Seems as my camera dissappeared from the laptop.
Please, can you help me?
Thanks in advance!
Hi Nina and welcome to Club Vaio.
It does not sound good. If the camera does not appear in Device Manager at all, then it is likely to have stopped working and will need repair.
Check these things first: -
1. Check carefully in ALL the branches of Device Manager for any 'Unknown Devices'.
2. Try reinstalling the camera driver by navigating to C:\Drivers\Camera\VC0321 and right-clicking on USBVM321.INF and choose 'Install'.
Hi, Thanks for your help!
There is no any "Unknown device"
And when you right-click on USBVM321.INF and choose the "install"....nothing happens.
If I need repair can I go to the nearest SONY Centre in my city?
THanks!
Nina,
If your Vaio is still within the 1 year warranty, give Sony Vaio-Link Support a call here: -
0870 240 2408
If it is now outside warranty, it may be best for a local repairer to have a look at it. A likely cause is that the cable connecting the camera to the motherboard has come loose.
If the camera itself is faulty, then you may be best advised to contact Sony on the 'Out of Warranty' line 0905 0310006 for an estimate - take care though, it is charged at 25p per minute.
