Motion Eye Camera - VGC-LA2

Hi

Can anyone help I cannot get the integrated camera to work.

I have checked in device manager troubleshooter which states this device is working properly!

On camera capture utility an error message says "An attempt to initialise camera failed Please check if another software is using camera" How do I check this??

Camera has been working with SKYPE until now & I don't think any changes have been made which could have affected its operation!!

I only write in sympathy.
I have had my LA2 for a year and have no idea how to check that my 'Motion Eye Camera' works. Sony have no instructions on this except to say that it is always on if the computer is on!

Have you installed: -

VAIO Camera Capture Utility 2.2.03.11150
Microsoft Hotfix Package KB931812

from here: -

http://support.vaio.sony.co.uk/downloads/updates/updates.asp?site=voe_en_GB_cons&c=1&s=VGC-LA&m=2529

If your camera used to work with Skype but works no longer, then check in MSCONFIG to make sure no application is loading the camera software at statup.

If these don’t fix it the only solution I know of is to disable Vista’s UAC. I should point out that UAC is a new security feature incorporated into Vista and disabling this may make your Vaio less secure (but no less secure than XP). This has to be your choice but it will probably fix the camera!

To disable User Account Control: -

Press the Windows key on the left of your keyboard and press R

Type in the command
MSCONFIG
and press OK -> Continue.

Open the Tab “Tools” and scroll down to ‘Disable UAC’ and click Launch. At the black screen, click OK and restart your Vaio.

Yes, I installed the VAIO Camera Capture Utility 2.2.03.11150 just recently but I get a warning that the camera cannot be found and may be being used by other software.
I have never discovered how to check that the camera is working.
Can you assist
