Multi-region DVD on FS115B?

I tried playing a region 1 DVD disc on my Vaio FS115B and it won't play it. I got myself the DVD Region Free software, installed it and it still won't work.

Any ideas?

Download VLC

Hi Keelo, I downloaded VLC and my UJ-831Da drive still will not play Region 1 discs without a change in the region setting on the player.
I put the disc in the drive, told the computer to use VLC and it will not play.

Am I missing something?

Alana,

Isn't that a DVD-RAM drive? Then it's not possible :slight_frown:

Yes, I think it is. That is the unit in my FS115B

We need someone to do a firmware patch. Its daft really, Notebooks are supposed to be portable, I use mine when travelling all over the world, but it is made by Sony to only work (in my case) region 2 markets......

It's Sony paranoia again, they're scared people will buy laptops to watch DVDs from the US, and not buy them in the UK.

A viscous circle in my opinion.

So, this is a dead end then...no use me downloading VLC.
