My microphone on my VPCF22M1E laptop is not recognised.

How can I reactivate the microphone?

Hi Ray773,

Check that the device is enabled and set as the default device.

Control Panel > Sound > Recording tab – if enabled it should have a green tick against Microphone (Realtek High Definition Audio).

If all appears to be OK then click the properties button in that window and on the ‘Levels’ tab make sure that the ‘Microphone’ slider is at 100%.

Hi Rich,

Thanks for that - I have done all that you suggest but to no avail. The Microphone shows Realtek and the slider is at 100% but still no sound is being picked up.

Any other suggestions?

Hi Ray,

Try the following:

1 Move the slider to 0%, apply and then move back to 100% and apply.

2 Shut down, remove the power adaptor and battery and then hold down the power button for 30 seconds. Reattach the power adaptor and battery and re-boot.

3 Try the Windows automated audio troubleshooter.
