Dear vaio fans i am having a big problem in these days, my pcg-k415s model laptop is getting extreme hot. I am using it about 1 year.Especially when i play a game for 10 minutes it starts to slow down and makes me sick. I am suspicious about the dusts that may be inside the computer. But i couldnt open the case!!!Could you guyz give me a hand about cleaning this thing??Thnx..
READ CAREFULLY------SHUTDOWN ASAP,....DO NOT USE ANYMORE....REMOVE BATTERY AND PACK IT BACK IN THE BOX AND CONTACT SONY ASAP...OR TAKE IT TO WHERE YOU BOUGHT IT.
Hi ysenyuz and welcome to the forum.
It may not be necessary to open your notebook to clear the cooling vents. Buy a can of compressed air from you local PC shop and give the vents a blast from a distance of approx. 100mm (too close and there is the possibility of damaging the fan by over rotation).
You could also download MobileMeter to check your CPU temperature, but is does sound as though it is overheating and passive cooling is cutting in, thereby reducing the CPU speed in an attempt to reduce the temperature.
Next question.Have you had any Lightening recently. If you have House Contents Insurance,it is possable your Laptop could have taken a Powersurge,or a Powercut on the mains. If so,get in touch with them, they will try and sort you out with a repair or a replacement.
Jesus when I saw that topic I thought one of those batteries had gone in flames.... scared me a bit there!
As Rich said if you use compressed air it should help, and run MobileMeter to tell us what temps you have.
