my Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-K15 doesn't read DVD's

The pioneer DVD-RW DVR-K15 of my VGN-FS215E doesn't read files on DVD's, when I open the DVD it on explorer, it shows no files, the driver feels that it is an empty DVD.
Is it a firmware update problem !! I tried uninstalling the DVD driver trick but still didn't work.
Any advices ?!! would be thankfull

Hi bach.

As Krooza has said, it sounds bad.

One good test is to insert a Sony Recovery Disc or a Microsoft XP Installation disc and reboot the Vaio.

If it will not boot then it is likely that the DVD laser has broken and you will need to replace the drive.

If it does boot, then you have a software problem.
