Hi everyone i have a sony vaio vgn-fw51jf for the last 8 months, my vaio once in a while freezes and i can't do anything, even move the cursor. The only thing i can do is press the power botton continiousle and shut down. I tried running the vaio diagnostic tools and found no errors.... I re-formatted and installed everything from the beginning but the freeze still happens. Yesterday it happened twice.... Before that it didn't happen for more than a month. My system has crashed - freezed for about 10 times since i bought my vaio!
I have windows 7 64 bit.
Any solutions, is that a hardware or a software problem?
anyone???????
no solutions?????
Unfortunately it can be caused by many things.
The likely causes are procesor overheating, motherboard power fault or some software or a driver incompatible with the 64-bit version of Windows 7.
1. What are you doing when it happens? Is it something like gaming that may overheat the processor?
2. Try downloading something like PC Wizardwhich will show you the CPU and GPU temperatures.
3. Check that any software you have installed supports 64-bit systems.
4. Have you updated with any non-Sony drivers?
thanks for your reply, it can freeze at any time, once it freezed while i was surfing in the web, using google chrome, another time happened while i was writing a document using Microsoft office and another time happened while i was away and i found it freezed.....
I have done all the updates from Vaio update and Microsoft update for windows, i performed a complete system restore and it happened again, without having installed any software, with just the Vaio defaults......
The strange thing is that it happens really rare, wright now it work fine, before two days it happened twice in an hour...... the last time before that was 2 monts ago.....
I use my Vaio daily and when it happens i am not overloading it with a lot of processes!
What i am trying to understand is if it is a hardware or a software error.....
If it is a hardware error i will contact Sony Vaio service, if it is a software error i will just wait for updates.....
hi
if you did a system recovery and still have these problems, it could be a problem of system overheating (as Blencogo said), or maybe it could be a bad RAM module. If you have 4 GB, try to remove one module and test it (run some apps), then remove it and install the other.
