New firmware for Sony DW-D56A DVD+-RW DL burner

Hi folks, I hope, someone of you can help me:

I own a VAIO Notebook with the Sony DW-D56A DVD burner, which is currently the standard Dual Layer recorder from Sony.

However the firmware version I have (PFS1) is rather old now and does not support many of the current media you can get in Europe. Even worse: the burned results are of pretty bad quality and don't work well in standalone DVD players.

To fix that issue, a firmware update would be great, as there is already the following version available: PFS2 .

However Sony does not offer it for downloading, so I'm asking you, if you can help me.

If you got your laptop within the last 3 months, chances are good that you have the newer firmware installed (PFS2). In this case, please dump it to your harddisk and mail it to me ( sfc@technologist.com )

If you need a tool for checking and dumping your firmware, try the one from cdfreaks.com:

Thank you very much for your support!!!
