My Motherboard battery is dead is it possible to replace it, and can i do it myself?
Thanks for any help
Andrew
If you have experience and the battery is in a removeable housing, then 'yes' you should be able to do it. If, however, as I suspect the battery is soldered to the motherboard you will probably not be able to replace this yourself.
If you are an experienced engineer and this is a surface mount battery, then remember to use long enough 'tags' on the old battery to minimise the heat transfer to the motherboard. Use something like an instant heat micro-gun to solder the new battery in and NEVER apply the heat to the motherboard as you will probably damage the multi-layers. Make sure that you can get a battery replacement before trying this.
Be sure that you know what you are doing.
If this fails and there is damage to the computer , this makes this the most expensive repair of all.
