No new Vaio Laptops

Hello fellow laptop lovers,

I had a major shock last weekend when I went to my major store to replace my aged laptop with a brand new one with again a Vaio laptop which I had grown to like and trust. I was shocked to learn that they no longer stocked the Vaio brand since Sony had stopped producing laptops in favour of concentrating on their TV etc brands!

Is this true? If so what reliable similar brand do members suggest I change to please?

Kindest regards to all

Gyron

Hi there

Unfortunately it is true.  Sony no longer product the VAIO equipment.

See the press release :

Brand recommendation is difficult as we all have different experiences.

Cheers

Hello Quinnicus, Thanks for reply. Great shame they have dropped out of market, especially as they were actively selling at Christmas (when I purchased a new Vaio for my wife)!

As to what brand I should now buy, I appreciate your saying that it is very much a personal thing and what you need it for. My needs are very simple in that I use Microsoft Office, emails and the Internet and would like a largish clear and bright screen. The Internet would primarily be used for research activities. The two that have caught my eye so far are the Lenovo (can be a bit pricey) and the Acer.

Anyway, thanks for your response.

Kind regards,

Gyron
