No Sound through HDMI when linking to Vaio AR31S to TV

I've managed to connect my AR31S to the TV via a 1.3 compliant HDMI cable and have managed to use the TV as an external monitor. HOWEVER... I just simply cant get the sound to go through the HDMI cable for any source, be it MP3, Blu-Ray, CD or whatever.

I am having similar problems with the optical out connected to my AV amp. I can get sound for music on my HD but thats a bout it.

I know HDMI supports both sound an dvideo, but its hust not having any of it! This is driving me insane - any sugestions please?

I just purchased a FZ21M which also sports a HDMI - unfortunately it seems that I can only get STEREO output from this port into my Onkyo 805 amp - please tell me this is NOT the normal operation?

I purchased this laptop primarily for its ability to output Blue-Ray into my projector via my HDCP compliant AMP with 5/6.1 sound.

If it cant do this then I am very dissatisfied and would seek to return it.

Any points I consider - I must have missed something?
