Hi
This morning i installed Norton 360 .. everything was going fine , until this afternoon when , my friend tried to send me some files on MSN , and when i had tried to accept the file , it did , until when around 90% of the transfer is done the file fails and the error message says 'Virus scan failed please check settings' this message has only started to come up since i installed Norton 360 , I'm getting really impatient with Norton , and i used their live help service , which was completley useless because they just gave me one answer 'check the firewall settings' , which i had done before i had spoken with them , then the man in the Live help service said 'sorry' and ended the live help session what a rubbish service ..
Anyone know the solution?
Thanks in advance
Bianca

Hello Bianca,
funnily enough I had the same problem with Norton 360 where upon completion of the transfer I was told that the virus scan couldn't be verified or whatever, that was until I did a system recovery. You really have 2 options:
1. Use the sharing folders as this doesn't produce the same problem (if you have the most up to date MSN Messenger Live, or;
2. I would advise to uninstall messenger and re-install it as after system recovery on my laptop I installed norton 360 first which I believe then allowed it to run properly with messenger (I can't guarantee this though). Of course you will lose any custom emoticons (I don't know how to save them but I pressume they are in the program files somewhere).
Hope this helps,
Andy
P.S. the support didn't help me much either, if you download the add-ons pack send me a message if you start getting problems with msn while using sites such as myspace.
or 3. Uninstall Norton altogether and treat yourself to some marvelous free security software!! :smileygrin:

Hi Bianca
In Messenger have you tried tools-options-file transfer
There you will see a checkable box for 'scan files for viruses using' uncheck that or swap it to a different anti virus if you have one.
Actually Bianca,
If you look like Jumpy says under tools, file transfer, but instead of having no scanner, there should be a button asking if you want to download a OneCare scanner, I havbe just done this, and would probably say it's the best option,
Andy
Thanks Everyone ... Problems fixed .. apierc1 i did what you said about downloading Live care ... and my file transfers finally work :smileygrin:
