I have a VGN-AR61ZU which comes with an Optical Output port that the manual states is S/PDIF compatible. I have obtained a TOS style S/PDIF cable cable that connects to my theatre system fine but the VAIO socket is not a standard TOS style port. In fact I can't find any references that tells me exactly what type of port I have on the VAIO so I can't shop for a suitable converter cable etc.
Any body been there, done that and care to share the knowledge?
Phil
Hi Phil and welcome to Club Vaio.
The optical comnnection on your Vaio is a Mini TosLink jackplug.
You will need either a TosLink to Mini TosLink cable
or if you already have a TosLink cable, an adapter is available like this TosLink to MIni TosLink Adapter
Ah ha, its easy when you know the answer!
Thanks for the link, order all ready placed for an adapter.
Shame they don't identify the socket type in the descriptions in the online manual.
Regards
Phil
I agree Phil, things like this are almost impossible to find out from the specifications. Fortunately, someone here will usually know most of the answers.
Good Luck!
