PCG-5G2M (VGN-CR11S) Vaio Laptop Bios corrupted

PCG-5G2M (VGN-CR11S) Vaio Laptop Bios corrupted

I did a screen installation as my last one was faulty. The VAIO didnt have an operating system on it at the time.

Tried to install Win 7 and came up with a file corruption message.

Now, whenever I boot up, I get the Sony Logo ok, but the screen then disoplays this ( see attached pic)

It wont boot up from a CD or DVD when inserted.

How can I fix the BIOS?screen.jpg

Hi Dalek_Winston,

Generally speaking the only resort if the Bios is currupt is to seek help from Sony.

That said there is a Bios update available for your model under Vista upgate which you could try at your own risk.

Click the support tabat the top of this page and enter your model number to access drivers and firmware updates available. The compliation is that the Bios update requires the operating system to be loaded and running.

Possibly the only thing you could try for yourself is to reset the Bios defaults, assuming that you can enter the Bios settings by pressing F2 at boot when you see the Vaio logo. I have no idea whether this will have any effect.

You could also try a system repair (F8 at boot) or safe mode.

Sorry not to be of more help.
