Can anyone help
I have got a Sony FX405. The CD/DVD drive has just decided that it will nolonger read DVD disk that have either been burnt and/or read DVD Movies.
There is no error message.
Explorer will let me go to the CD drive but display no contents.
I use PowerDVD 4 and that too can not see the DVD disk. But can see the drive, but says that there is no disk.
If, however, I use DVD from magazines, they can be read and any movies on them can be played.
There is one thing. Whenever I put the normal commercial DVD and burnt DVD disk in the drive, after a couple of seconds there are a couple of clicking noise.
Does this mean me CD/DVD drive has had it ? If so, where can I get a replacement ?
I had a very similar problem with an FX602. The drive did not recognise DVDs including movies but would read CDs. Same clicking noise as well. I guess this is a common weakness. Sony fixed it for me, luckily it was still under warranty. I guess you call them for a quote. Good luck.
i have a FX601, had it once too, but the dvd was scratched, probably there is a region code problem?
