have tried to upgrade from 256 to 512 Mb memory but this does not work?. Anyone an idea?
Latest bios upgrade.
Thanks, Chemicalboy
Welcome to the Clubbe, Go to crucial and download their nifty hardware analysis software and all will be revealed. What RAM modules work with your lappie and so on and they are way cheaper too with great results. You may have needed to replace both modules of 256?
If you visit the Specifications page on VAIO-Link you will see that 512MB is the limit for this laptop.
The chances are you have just one slot free for memory, and you have picked the wrong type of memory.
As Tune Up Tony suggests, visit Crucial and see the Memory Matcher for the PCG-FX501. You will be guaranteed this memory will work, and it is MILES cheaper than Sony memory.
As for the 512MB module that is incompatible with your laptop, there is always eBay to sell such items.
Thanks Tony,
Have done all the above and bought the correct memory.
But it is still not working
